LAURA BELL - YOUR YOGA TEACHER FOR NORTH WALES & CHESTER
The first ever yoga class I attended, I was the youngest by about 50 years. I was 18 & had just returned from travelling round the world. Whilst in Australia I broke my back in a boating accident and was unsure whether I would walk again, but for some reason I was a lucky one and walked out of hospital six weeks later. Having been a fit , active , character up until my accident I was saddened to hear that the only form of exercise I was allowed to undertake was yoga. It was to strengthen my muscles without straining my back and body, yet still providing me with a physical form of activity. I started off learning a very slow form of yoga but as my body healed it wanted to be challenged more and more, and that is where Ashtanga yoga came in.
Over the past six years I have been travelling and working all over the world. When travelling you accumulate many useless pieces of luggage, my yoga mat was never one of them. I would do yoga on the floor of cramped hotel rooms, on cliff tops of remote islands, the top deck of luxury yachts or on Caribbean beaches looking up to the stars. It never mattered where I practised, it was just the fact that I was practising,
I could talk forever about the benefits that yoga has bought to me, confidence, energy, enthusiasm and an ever increasing physically fit body. The only way to experience yoga is just to begin and continue to practise, until eventually with patience you will attain the unattainable.
